Energy Rebates & Savings
California's utility provider, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), works closely with the PolarClad sales team, by offering substantial rebates on the application of our unique PolarClad Tank Insulation system to new and existing tanks. Wineries may receive the incentives as a calculation of surface area insulated, or a rebate based upon annual energy savings.
PolarClad’s staff will guide you throughout the entire process of getting your energy rebate from application to reception.
PolarClad Tank Insulations provides:
- 19.4 kWh annual energy savings per square foot for outside tanks
- 15.1 kWh annual energy savings per square foot for inside tanks
In the Northern California coastal region, PG&E currently rewards energy rebates in the amount of:
- $3.00 per insulated square foot for outside tanks
- $2.25 per insulated square foot for inside tanks
In the Northern California central region, PG&E currently rewards energy rebates in the amount of:
- $3.00 per insulated square foot for outside tanks
- $2.50 per insulated square foot for inside tanks
An example for energy savings and rebate would be:
A winery has eight 50,000 gallon outdoor tanks - equal to a combined surface area of 14,343 square feet. This winery would receive a check for $43,028 from PG&E, which equals 27% of the insulating cost. The 96.5% efficient Polarclad® Tank Insulation system will in this case save over 278,249 kWh. At $0.14/kWh, the winery will save $38,955 annually on their utility bill. The likelihood of power costs rising in the future is highly probable, so payback would be achieved even sooner.
